Each year on Valentine's Day, we have a special meal. Everything is either heart-shaped or pink. It is definitely something to look forward to during the dreariness of winter. This sorbet originally started as a recipe I found a long time ago in Taste of Home. The original recipe was for a molded gelatin dessert and involved strawberry gelatin and applesauce.
The recipe has since evolved into a yummy strawberry banana sorbet that I freeze in heart-shaped silicone cupcake liners. Using a silicone mold makes it so easy to unmold the sorbet after it is frozen. The banana adds enough sweetness that no additional sugar is needed, so it is a dessert you can feel good about serving anytime.
