Aloha Friday - December 10, 2010

It's Aloha Friday at An Island Life!  Take a break from posting and answer a simple question.  Then be sure to check out all the other bloggers participating.  It's a great way to get to know each other.

My Question this week:

I read somewhere that the average American gains 5 pounds between Thanksgiving and New Years Day.  Are you doing anything to avoid gaining weight this holiday season or are you making an effort to eat healthier?

My Answer:

I try to control my portions.  Also if I know I am going to be at a party in the evening, I eat vegan (Eat for Life) for breakfast and lunch.  By getting plenty of veggies and nutritious foods during the earlier part of the day, I don't feel too bad if I enjoy some small portions of holiday foods.  I would love to say I exercise each day, but unfortunately during this time of the year, that doesn't always happen as I am rushing around making last minute Christmas preparations.

I try to watch what I eat during this time of year, but it's hard when you're cooking or baking not to sample as you go along... ;) Shopping and wrapping presents count as working out, right? ;)

I am trying to get back into my workout routine now that I am feeling better. Also drinking more water to feel full and having less goodies in the house.

As we don't celebrate Thanksgiving here in Spain. But I try to eat healthy before Christmas, and then on holidays I can eat what I want.

Dude, I'm trying, but I know I haven't been behaving as much as I should. I think the one thing I've got going for me is how much water I've been trying to drink but I know my splurges are adding up, too.

I'm staying away from parties and not brining unnecessary items into the house.

Have a great Friday!

i started Weight Watchers at the end of july and have lost 25 lbs, I am basically doing my best to stay on track, even with how busy I have been.

Eating healthier is always my goal, however I'm as skinny as rail and could use some butt and hips.
