Gettin' Fit Friday

As I mentioned in my exercise motivation post yesterday, I need an incentive to exercise. I wish I could say that I love to exercise and I do it for the sheer joy of getting healthier.  The reality is that I hate to exercise.  There I said it!  I have to reward myself in some way or I will find excuses not to do it.

 My current motivation is that I am putting $1 for every mile I walk into a fund for a fun family day trip to the Children's Museum in Indianapolis.  Admission will cost our family of 6 around $73.  Figuring in gas, a small souvenir for each kids, and 1 meal out, I am estimating I need to save $225.

So here's how this week went:
  • Friday - 0
  • Saturday - 1 mile (est.) while out trick-or-treating.  We walked for an hour and a half so it was probably more.
  • Sunday - 4.3 miles while out letterboxing at a State Park
  • Monday - 1.9 miles on the walk/jog cycle on the treadmill
  • Tuesday - 1.0 miles - Leslie Sansone Walk Away the pounds dvd
  • Wednesday - 1.4 miles walking on the bike path
  • Thursday - 2.0 miles on the walk/jog cycle on the treadmill
Total - 11.6 miles so that's $11.60 for the day trip fund




I don't know about you, but I always find it so motivational to read about other people's stories and successes.  So I thought maybe we could help each other out.

I am forever trying to motivate myself back to the gym. I really don't mind exercise I just hate going it alone. This week I made it to the gym once, then the cold came. It's one excuse after another. Poor one, too. I'll keep trying until it sticks. The other thing I've done is snacked more on fruits, specifically Honeycrisp apples. Yum!

Sadly, I also despise exercising. I just had my first child 6 months ago, and I keep telling myself I need to exercise & get rid of my tummy. And I never really get around to it.
I have started eating healthier, & i've lost all but a few pounds of the weight I gained. I think having a DVD to work out to would help motivate me a little. :)

I haven't actually made it to any classes yet, but this week I looked up the fitness class schedule on our local military base and found that they offer some classes that sound like a lot of fun! I went through the schedule and highlighted which classes I thought I could enjoy going to and tried to see if any will fit into my schedule.

My biggest hang-up is that I need a workout buddy to help keep me motivated. That's what I'm missing right now. I can only last a couple times on my own before I let any and every excuse keep me away!

When the time changed, I decided to wake up an hour early.. which feels like the same time I am used to getting up, and use that hour to exercise first thing in the morning. it helps me stay in a healthy mind set for the whole day.

I made it to the gym yesterday and did 2 miles on the elliptical. Its really hard to go, but once you get there you know you'll feel better--I keep telling myself that, the whole way there :) and it is so true!

after years of being 150 lbs overweight... I have taken the steps to go see a doctor and get on a doctor monitored diet plan... it make take a couple of years to get it off but it took a couple of years to get it on.

This week I went on an involuntary fast, as I had my wisdom teeth extracted and could not eat solid foods! lol

Ok, I didnt choose to do it, but it was healthier!

Oh my gosh, this is a great idea Jen! I need something to keep me on track with my I'm a Fluffy Girl posts, Getting Fit Fridays will totally do that! I had such a busy week that I only was able to make it to the gym twice, but I filled in the gaps with videos On Demand from exercise TV...there are some great ones to be had!! I'm down 30 pounds and 3 sizes so far, feeling great!
